Bam Bam's First Wave

Bam Bam was happy to be at the beach, and excited to get in the water.

Little sis sat on the beach and cheered her brother on.

We were excited to get home from the Colorado River, and take our son surfing. For Family Home Evening tonight we went down to 9th street to the beach. The waves were not very good there, so Johnny paddled the little guy down to the pier. They were on the outside of south side. There were tons of pros out from the U.S. Open. All of a sudden a big set wave came rolling in. They were the only ones out far enough to catch it. Everyone on the pier and in the water were hooting and hollering for them to catch it. Johnny was thinking "Oh no, now I have to go." They paddled and caught the wave, riding it on their bellies (too big to try to stand up on for a 1st wave). They rode it for a long time, going left, everyone was cheering for them, then Johnny had to straighten out because the wave reformed and doubled up. Bam Bam was riding on the nose of the board and suddenly they began to pearl. He slid underwater first, then Johnny fell on top of him, then Bam Bam kicked Johnny in the nose, then Johhny said he lost him. Luckily Johnny had tied a short leash around little man's life vest and he was able to pull him up right away. He came up smiling and he said "FUN!" Johnny was so relieved that he was not traumatized. (Bam Bam is a good swimmer and feels very comfortable in the water, he was safe). Eventually they caught a little white wash and they rode it all the way to the beach.

Here is a video of one of the little wipe outs.

Here is CJ surfing on his first wave with Dad.

He is such a little rock star, just like his mom and dad. I can just picture him one day with all that hair shooting the pier, Curren Rocks!
